Help on Import

Before you load any lesson plans, it's always a good idea to make a quick backup of your data using Edu-Track's File/Backup Edu-Track Data... feature.  This way, if you don't like the results, you can always go back to the way it looked before your import of the new lesson plans.  Next, check to see if you are running Edu-Track version 1.46 or greater as only the Edu-Track software and only version 1.46 or later can import/read these plans!  If you do not have v1.46, contact Support@Edu-Track.net first before you purchase these lesson plans as you may need to purchase the upgrade to read/load these plans if you are not on the upgrade subscription.

Then, to import  the lessons:
  1. Think about the first lesson plan you will be importing and decide what days of week you want the plan to appear on (e.g. Mon/Wed/Fri, Tue/Thu, Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri, etc.)  Once you decide, in Edu-Track's Setup/Edit School Year menu, click the Standard School Days tab and verify you have selected the correct days.  Let's say (for example) you are importing Saxon Math 8/7 and want the plan to appear on Mon/Wed/Thu/Fri (skipping Tuesday), you would ONLY check Mon/Wed/Thu/Fri.  Close this screen when finished.
  2. Next, click File/Import Lessons/Activities...  Click the yellow folder and find the .lxp lesson plan you downloaded from our shopping cart. You will see a preview of how many lessons are in the plan.  Click the Next Step button to move on through the wizard.
  3. On the "Select Activity Dates to Import" screen, most always you will always simply click Next Step unless you have a very special circumstance.
  4. On the "Select Students to Import" screen you will simply click Next Step since there will only be one "Student" in the plan (that is, the lesson plan for the course you downloaded).
  5. On the "Select Subects to Import" screen, you most always will click Next Step since there is probably only one subject in the plan.  Some lesson plans span multiple subjects and you might decide in some circumstance to exclude certain subjects from coming into your child's lessons.
  6. On the "Select Courses to Import" screen, you most always will click Next Step since there is probably only one course in the plan.  Some lesson plans span multiple courses and you might decide in some circumstance to exclude certain courses from coming into your child's lessons.
  7. On the "Select Activities" screen, you most always will click Next Step unless you want to exclude certain activities from importing into your child's lessons.
  8. On the "Date Import Options" screen select the option "Import activity records into a new date range..." and then double-click on the date field and select the starting date for the lessons you will be importing.  Click Next Step when finished.
  9. On the "Student Import Options" screen, click the "Import activity records into my existing student.." option and then select the child(ren) you want these lessons loaded into.  Click Next Step when finished.
  10. On the last step "Almost ready" screen, you will usually select the "Completed Flag"  and "Actual Points" because you don't want these fields to load into your child's plan (you will do your own grading and completion).  Click the Begin Import button to load the plan!
You can press F1 while this screen is open to receive full help instructions.
