This may seem ridiculous to seasoned pros, but I'm wondering if every library book, especially those that relate to a learning topic, magazine, or video should be kept track of in Edu-track? I tend to over due and don't want to set myself up for disaster. What do others do? Thanks, Melissa

If your state requires reporting, you might want to track every book and video simply to show a broad body of work being done. If your state doesn't require reporting, it comes down to your own organizational needs.

If I tracked every book my twins read, it would consume all my time. They each read more than 3 hours a day, by choice. I don't bother tracking everything, but I do track books that are on my "wish list" of books for them to read, just to remind myself. Often, I haven't assigned the book (yet), but they read it on their own. This may change later lesson plans, as I'm always having to find new books because they've already read what I intended.

I live in one of those states that washes its hands of you once you file a Notice of Intent, so any tracking I do in Edu-Track is for my own purposes -- and future transcripts as we approach college -- rather than for any state reporting.
